it's a trick people use, yeah. I don't think tricks are good, but sometimes you just want to get the word out and move on. I sometimes do this too. Or if a word starts with a vowel, i'll add a sound in front of it lightly to help. "Another might become "b-nother" with a really light and quiet B.
