I'm a high school teacher with a moderate-to-severe stutter. I mostly have 9th and 12th graders this year, but I've taught every grade level from 6th to 12th over my career. I open every year with the following script 1. I'm Mr. Alleg 2. I stutter. I'm used to it. 3. This is what you can expect 4. This is how you should react Students adapt pretty quickly. There is some nervous laughter for a few days, but one students see that I roll with it, they get used to it. Most kids say that they don't even notice it after a few weeks. Dropping the occasional joke to remind them that it's ok (or acknowledging if you're having a rough day) also helps.
