What are some things your teachers did (or should have done) to support you as a person who stutters when you were in school? Hello lovely people of r/stutter! I am a speech-language pathologist in an elementary school setting, and I have a teacher asking me for things she can do to support a student in her kindergarten class who stutters (SWS for brevity). I have actually never had a classroom teacher ask me this before (sadly), so beyond the classic “make sure you and the other students are giving SWS ample response time” and “don’t let other students try to finish SWS’s sentences” I don’t know what else to suggest. I figured I’d ask here to (hopefully) get suggestions from people with lived experience going through school as a child who stutters. TIA!
