Stuttering and alcohol or drugs Hi I have a stutter where I block occasionally and make repeatments, but the latter is barely more than fluent people. The severity of my stutter is dependent on stress as everybody's but also periodical. On good days I'm 98% fluent and only a few of my best friends know I have a stutter. I'm native Dutch and my speech is very noticeable less fluent in other languages. German is also no problem but English and Spanish are harder, and in Spanish I can't back it up with synonyms either. That was just a small introduction of my stutter, I don't know if it's a atypical one. My question is: how do certain psychoactive substances affect your stutter. For me it's: Alcohol: more fluent Weed: less fluent, especially with strangers. Xtc: When peaking I talk fast and perfectly fluent in every language but after initial peak it gets really bad Psychedelica: unpredictable. Ketamine: way worse. Cocaine and amphetamines: small stammer but no blocks at all
