You have to use your personal judgement to evaluate 1) when to advertise, 2) how to advertise, and 3) how to react to their reaction. For example, you shouldn't introduce yourself by saying "I'm Bob and I stutter" because chances have it that doing so will put you at a major disadvantage interacting with them. If you tell them right off the bat their subconscious might immediately put them on a pedestal and will cause them to pander you/disrespect you/treat you like a second rate human being. Try to "humanize" yourself before advertising. Give them a reason to treat you as their equal. This could be making them laugh, helping them out, complimenting them and just in general treat them like you want to be treated. Once you feel comfortable enough with them and **they are comfortable with you** you can take a minute to seriously tell them about your stutter. That's at least what I've gathered over the years.
