How to stutter less (my story) Solving stutter isn't just about solving stutter. It is a lot more complex than that. First you have got find what is the cause of your stuttering. For me I found that being nervous was probably the cause, for example: I am going to talk to someone -> I start to get nervous because I am going to stutter -> Then I stutter. You may be thinking: I see that being nervous really affects you but have you got any proof that explains that being nervous is the main cause??? Well, do you stutter more when you are alone or when you are talking to a person? Of course you stutter more when you talk to a person and that happens because you are afraid of stuttering in front of someone and you start to get nervous! The point is the less you get nervous the less you stutter. You can try some meditation or anything that makes you feel calm. As I have said you get nervous because you know you stutter but you still have to talk to that person. YOU CAN'T KEEP REMEMBERING YOURSELF THAT YOU STUTTER every time you are going to talk to someone. Being calm while talking is ESSENCIAL. One of the tricks I use is to look at the person face and think about it so I can distract my mind from the fear of stuttering ("blue eyes, big nose..."). Try to make yourself comfortable while talking. Accept you stutter and be HAPPY. That's right be happy. Change your mood. I know it is difficult. But from the past months I am trying to be happy all the time (most of the time) because you have to enjoy life to overcome your stuttering!!! Crying isn't going to solve your stutter. You have to not give a f*** about your stuttering. If you had a bad moment accept it, smile, SING, and be happy. CRYING ISN'T going to solve anything. THE LESS YOU CARE THE BETTER. Try to be less nervous with techniques that can calm you down in this situation. Doing exercise is also essential because it is a way of getting rid of some tension. I am thinking about doing a re post with more information and with better organization. It's very late so I will elaborate more in another post (more techniques...) if you want. I can do a much better text sorry if it's confusing. Sorry about my english (To be continued)
