How to make people more at ease around you despite the stutter👇 Most new people we meet have never met anyone with a stutter before so you cant blame them for how they act. They're not assholes (well most of them) This is how you can make the encounters better and less awkward 1.Show patience with yourself, and others are likely to follow suit. People take cues from your behavior so if you're calm and composed about your stuttering, it can help put them at ease. Its like Newtons 3rd law. 2.When others see that you are comfortable with who you are, they are more likely to feel at ease around you. So dont seem to be trying to hide the stutter unless you can 'successfully' hide it. Everyone loves a confident person. Am not a fan of 'stutter proudly' bcs there is nothing to be proud about stuttering but this is somehow stutter proudly. In short be comfortable in your skin. 3.Injecting humor into the situation can lighten the mood. A well-timed joke about your own stuttering can break tension and create a more relaxed atmosphere. I know jokes are not our thing due to timing but if it works it will chase the elephant out the room. 4.This can be applied in stuff like presentations or an interview, not in a one on one convo. Focus on the content of what you're saying rather than the stutter. When people see that you have valuable thoughts and insights, they are more likely to focus on the message rather than the delivery. This is for strangers or people who dont know you stutter.. not those who already know you stutter. If a person knows you stutter and reacts negatively or treats you wrong they are the assholes am talking about and there's nothing you can do about it and they're not worth your attention.
