I'm sorry to say this, but this therapist doesn't understand stuttering at all. That's not what causes blocks. Blocks are caused when the desire to speak comes up against the desire to avoid stuttering and you can an involuntary locking of your vocal cords (it's involuntary at this point, but it is overall still within your control to change it). Unless you feel a strong connection, I would stop now and find someone else. Find someone board certified in fluency and ironically, find someone who doesn't focus on fluency.
