Yes but the problem is not just the simpletons. 90% of well meaning, intelligent and wise people do not understand the effect stutter has on one's life, career, health. One of my parents, extremely kind, intelligent, educated, thought for 20 years that I can be talked out of stutter. If stutter was officially a recognized disability, non stutterers (individuals, schools, companies) would be better aware what stutter is and does. It would be a win win.
