Like 1000fireflies, I own it. I think it really depends on the situation and/or who I’m speaking with. I’ve also made humorous comments about my stutter, things like: “sit back and relax folks, it’s gonna take me awhile”, or similar. There’s an old story about Winston Churchill… he was at a dinner party and had been drinking heavily, when one of the female dinner guests said “Mr Churchill you are very drunk.” Churchill replied “Yes, my dear woman I am very drunk. But in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.” I have paraphrased it and used it for my stuttering when I’m mocked or made fun of: Yes, I am a stutterer, but my stuttering will get better, but you will always be ignorant.” What is amazingly weird is that I can drop a snarky-ass line like that perfectly fluently. No idea why or how. Anybody else experience fluency when they swear or make snarky comments. My favorite comeback to someone saying “fuck you” to me is “uh, no… I’d be bored and you’d be confused.” I can do it in one breath and 100% fluency. Does anybody else experience fluency when they’re angry and let loose a tirade of expletives? It’s not very ladylike, but when I’m angry I don’t give a crap! My mother lived until she was 98, and I was 65. She would still reprimand me for swearing. She was a true lady and never used coarse language. Even when angry. I have not been blessed with that. I swear like a sailor when angry. Luckily, I have a long fuse. Takes a lot to rile me up.
