Everyone here has great tips, but as an ESL teacher, here's a couple I use. * The "uh-" bounce trick that the King in the King's Speech used. Like if you're going to stutter on boat, say "uh-BOAT", making the "uh" very tiny. It kind of fakes out my muscles, which a prepared to stutter on a plosive but instead had to do a vowel. * Unvoicing voiced consonants. Do you have similar trouble with "p" as "b"? The voicing tenses the lip/tongue muscles and probably triggers the block. So try saying "poat" instead of "boat," "tooing" instead of "doing" etc. Eventually, once you've read successfully a whole bunch, the anxiety regarding reading will drop down and you won't have to use soft-starts anymore.
