I'm not promoting a treatment here but my two cents.  If you have no experience with cannabis this is a great opportunity to take the medical approach vs classic lighting up and seeing what happens. Sometimes people don't "feel it" the first time they try it and others have very intense feelings. With smoking you may have a great time but it may be difficult to determine how much your stutter is specifically being helped. For medical treatment people recommended I keep a journal to figure out which products work best.  I won't give too much product specific advice because this forum does not promote specific drugs. This is an informational comment. Marijuana can become a drug of abuse of you get high all day every day. It's not the holy grail. Rather than hop into smoking and having a possible panic attack.... Try to get advice from providers who certify medical cards or learn about very low dose edibles from reliable sources (legal hopefully). People who don't really smoke find micro dose  low dose edibles last for hours at a time and may provide relief without an overwhelming "high".  Ideally low dose edibles will work for you. I smoke for various other medical conditions and smoking can sometimes be a monkey on my back. It provides in the moment but it interferes with professional activities and there are some contexts where it's not great to be "feelin it".  THC is the active ingredient so to speak. You might find you get relief from CBD alone which wouldn't be psychoactive at all. There are medicines that are 19:1 CBD:THC out there that provide relief.  People get really into what strains have what terpenes/cannabinoids and which help for what. If you find a reliable source for medical micro dosing products you won't have all that guess work at first. Ask your doctors or dispensary staff about low dose edibles with "CBGA" and other cannabinoids. I say this as someone who smokes entirely too much herb: combusting/smoking anything is bad for you and while weed can help with various symptoms it is not a cure all. Some people do experience serious side effects from marijuana so it's not for everyone. It can be addictive and interfere with your life and relationships.  In legal states you can legit talk to a doctor who will often have input for you. A doctor near me offers to recommend specific state legal products for individual medical conditions and people who aren't "stoners" really benefit from not having to experiment so much.  If you do smoke after all I'm assuming you are an adult and will be fine. Watch the YouTube video where the cop gets too high and calls 911 though. Sometimes people who aren't familiar with the feeling become VERY anxious about how it makes them feel. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hrZLc9lqQM0&pp=ygUVQ29wcyA5MTEgcG90IGJyb3duaWVz
