I have a slight stutter and it can goes severely if I’m under pressure or nervous. I stutter when I speak English, but not in my in my native language. I do notice that my thought seems to run at much faster speed as I stutter, so now I try to practice speaking to myself in a clear voice and slow pace. That helps me a lot. I do it daily and at any time I can. I tell everyone I know that I stutter when I’m getting nervous and talking to myself helps me practicing not only to slow down the speaking pace but also to calm my breathing when I speak. I think we just practice until it becomes a habit. I tend to aware too much about myself and want to present myself well. I guess that can cause the stress.
