Contrary to popular belief, first impressions don't mean that much. I'm sure a lot of us have heard "You have to make a good first impression!" So when you meet new people you try really hard not to stutter when introducing yourself, which is fine, but when you eventually do stutter you think "i've ruined my first impression the other person doesn't like me anymore" when in reality they probably didn't even think twice of it! Idk why it took me so long to realize this, or maybe I did but just didn't want to admit it and used it as an excuse to stay in my comfort zone and not be social. Next time you introduce yourself and stutter go back to that person and notice how they treat you as if nothing happened, stuttering is a big deal because we make it a big deal.
