I think the psychological term for it is "desensitization". In school especially I noticed it because of how stressed out everyone would get over oral presentations, etc, while I was calmer, because I was so used to that feeling. In certain amounts it can be good, but too much and you feel like there's this barrier between you and the rest of the world.
