I am a 21 year old male who has stuttered for as long as I can remember. My stutter is generally moderate, but swings occasionally to both ends of the spectrum. I've had a lot of time to think about my stutter and the ways in which it has affected me, and I've come to the conclusion that I do not regret having my stutter, but given the opportunity I would rid myself of it now. One of the things that I struggle with the most is providing my input on conversations of depth. For example, I'm currently living in an apartment with five of my friends/classmates. We're all relatively intelligent guys and often debate about politics, philosophy, history, economics, etc. I find myself constantly struggling to voice my opinions and thoughts in these situations. My stutter not only makes me concerned about how my words sound coming out, but also how that affects the way it is interpreted and tolerated in a fast paced, quick-witted environment. This is the thing that I would like to overcome the most as I generally think that I am very intelligent and would like to have these types of conversations freely without any impediment or barrier to conversation. It's just not so easy to think, "Screw it, I'm just going to say what I have to say." Also, stuttering on my name blows.
