While it might help you, there might be more effective ways to deal with your stutter (voluntary stuttering, Van Riper's 'speech correction' methods etc). I say this only because we have limited time and might not be able to practice all these different techniques that are recommended to lessen the degree to which we stutter. Reading might help in that it might strengthen the 'normal' speech motor mechanism, if you do not stutter when you read. You might also learn how to articulate difficult sounds by reading to yourself while observing your speech mechanism carefully (vocal chord vibration, air flow, lip and tongue movement etc.). This might help you in an actual stuttering moment, where you can try to consciously articulate the sound.
