Unfortunately stuttering can be a lifelong ailment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a social life!! I am fortunate enough to not have a stutter, but I’m studying speech therapy. My professor, who taught me about stuttering, has one himself and he’s leading a very successful life! I would suggest when you meet new people to tell them about your stutter and what they can do to help you feel more comfortable in conversation. For example, my professor tends to have “blocks” where he can’t get the words out, so we politely wait until he finishes his thought to continue. Eye contact and a gentle smile is all he needs from his audience while we wait! Hope this helps!! :)
