I feel that issue. I was pulled over by the police 6 months ago for a minor traffic violation, but then as I stuttered and physically struggled to respond to his questions, the cop asked me if I had been drinking (I was 100% sober). Fortunately the cop gave me a warning and things ended without incident. I live pretty close to the Canadian border and a lot of friends will just go to Canada for a few hours and then head back, sometimes just going by themselves. I’ve never done that by myself because I’m fearful of having to talk to border patrol and my stutter being interpreted as suspicious. Maybe I’m overly paranoid but that fear that people think I’m lying because of my stutter really gets to me.
