>no one realizes this is a diagnosable thing and she should be in therapy for it Depends on the therapy. Most of my experiences with therapy were a waste of time and even had a negative impact. Because when it's all about, "lets make you fluent" and then that doesn't happen or it happens but then it doesn't last... it makes a person feel like dog shit. Especially fluency shaping... it's a real kick in the nuts to go from pretty severe stuttering for 20+ years to completely fluent for 2 months and then gradually watch it all slip away and back to severe stuttering. Therapy should focus on the psychological impact stuttering has on a person. I'm still fucked in the head because of bad therapy and never learning how to cope.
