I'd been considering getting a septioplasty etc, due to much difficulty breathing through my nose, which I attribute at least partly to my stutter. The doc agreed it may help, but he's not a speech therapist. What OP described is very much what I experience, and attributed to a bad nose for breathing. Surgery is scary, and I've had reservations about it. I'll check this out before I go for the procedure. Thanks!
