I see that this post is almost a month old but I really wanted to leave something here for anyone who happens upon it like me. I'm a new teacher and I have a mild stutter (as well as anxiety depression because why not?). Sometimes I stutter more or less while I'm teaching depending on the usual factors like how rested I am, how anxious I am, etc. This year I started telling students that I am a person who stutters and it really makes everything much easier when I'm not trying to hide it or jumping through hoops to avoid stuttering. One thing I will say, some kids ARE going to make fun of you if you stutter. It is going to happen and there's nothing you can do about it. But if you've been in school yourself you know teachers with fluent speech are also made fun of by students occasionally. Owning up to it and having a healthy sense of humor about it is really important, I think.
