Block stutter...Please read So I am new here, I guess I finally wanted to hear other people's story's. I feel I need to vent so here I go. I have stuttered since I was born, almost 98% always blocking. I guess I want to know if people find blocking to be the worst form of stutter. In school I had it mild, thankfully, and being decent looking guy and a decent personality I made friends easily, and learned to avoid certain words and situations where I knew I would have a hard time. That is until I finished highschool, then I had to experience real life, and there was no avoiding my speech. I fell into deep, deep depression, developed worse social anxiety, almost to phobia. I have a loving family, a good group of friends, but I still could not handle the shame when I could not say a word. My stutter got worse with the depression and anxiety, every 2nd word would take 3-5 seconds to say, and for some reason when I work at a job, my stutter is 1000x worse, and with strangers. Blocking. Can't say name. Can't say this. Can't form a sentence. I LOVE talking, when I had it mild I could go on and on. Now it's a moderate/high block stutter. I think of suicide everyday, I went into isolation for 5 months not seeing anyone except my parents. I am still in the same situation, I went from an outgoing class clown with a lot of friends to this. I am broken. HOW can you guys live your life, HOW can you handle the shame and the embarrassment. I see psychologists and group therapy, but my mindset can't change, I've always hated my block stutter. Please someone tell me their own story.
