My advice is to tell your teachers you stutter even before classes start. I have a form letter that I send out to all my professors warning them that I stutter and also letting them know that I have extreme difficulties saying my name. I also ask them If they do any sort of "name game" ice breakers, and if they do, I ask them to allow me not to participate. If the class has a lot of required talking, I normally have the professor tell the class that I stutter. Is it embarrassing? A little but it's way better than blocking on a word in front of the whole class and everyone thinks you're a moron. Once people realize and know you stutter, most people do not care. College really is not bad; people are there too learn and could not care less about anyone's handicaps. If you'd like to see my letter, just let me know.
