40 year old dad — father of four. I also think my life long stutter is due to my very early years and how I was treated. One of my biggest fears with each kid, like yours, was that they would naturally develop a stutter or that a heavy stress event would bring one out. With that said — a temporary stutter can be common after a concussion or other hits to the head. I would lean toward this is only going to be a temporary issue, although I’m sure I’d be just as concerned as you. I would hold off on speech therapy until you know it’s going to stick around. Sometimes shining a spotlight on a stutter, nervous tick, or other neurological things can draw more attention to it and lock it in, where it might have otherwise quickly passed. Also — football — rough sport, man. Be careful out there, heads are fragile.
