From what I've read, the therapy used in the movie was nothing like the therapy actually used in George VI. I read about him after watching the movie, and the book (forget what is called, not at home to look) indicates that the therapist focused only on the mechanics of speech, not the emotional aspect. That aside, it was so nice to see an honest, sympathetic depiction of a stutterer, the anxiety we experience, and the impact on those close to us, and not some stuttering doofus thrown in for comic relief.
