Mom needs help with son who stutters Hi. I’m a stutterer (I’d say former but I truly feel you never get over it!) I’m a 39 y/o dean of students for special education students. I’ve dealt with students who stutter for years and also very personally. I stuttered from age 3 to about 14 when I’d had enough and some how learned techniques that worked for me and I’ve been pretty undetectable since then. I’ve learned pacing and breathing and just general coping skills. My son showed signs of stuttering at age 4- literally at his 4th birthday party. It was heartbreaking. We’ve spent over 10 thousand on speech therapy- it’s done little. He is going on 13 now. He’s stubborn and I feel a times feels a bit defeated. It’s hard to watch him struggle and I feel his behavior has shifted as a result of low esteem now and anxiety. Of late he’s been more receptive to working with me in speech therapy. We’ve mainly focused on awareness in his breathing while talking (or lack thereof) and creating a rhythm in speaking- this works while he’s practicing but usually loses focus when we’re not in practice mode. Recently I’ve been introduced to CBD oil. I’ve been considering giving this to him in a tea to reduce his anxiety as I’ve noticed he is most prevalent in stuttering when he’s anxious. Has anyone had experience with CBD? Is there any advice anyone can offer?
