How would you describe your stuttering? Hey r/stutter, last time I posted here asking if people here stuttered when talking to themselves, which turned into a conversation about stuttering when talking to inanimate objects, non-humans (like pets), or in a different language. It was interesting reading everyone's comments and being able to talk about my issues with stuttering. So I want to keep the conversation going but in a different direction. So, how would you describe your stuttering? For me, when I stutter there are two things that happen. They either happen one at a time, or both: 1.) The first sound in a word I try to make doesn't want to come out. It feels as though there is a physical force stopping my voice from pronouncing that sound. 2.) I will manage to get the first sound out, but will repeat it really fast for a few seconds until I either run out of breath and have to start over or I somehow manage to get to pronouncing the whole word. Drinking caffeinated drinks before I speak to people or give a presentation exacerbates the stuttering. Also whenever I speak sitting down my stuttering gets worse, which I think has something to do with not being able to fully open my airways (this is why music teachers tell you do never sing sitting down, but standing up).
