I'm from India as well. See one thing you might agree is that your self confidence must be very low. My self confidence was so low that i was unable to talk to shopkeepers and delivery guys even. Lack of self confidence makes you anxious and makes you fear every single social situation. That is the root of all problems. In interviews, no one cares if you have minor stutter. But if you stutter a lot, then they assume you aren't confident. Technique to build confidence- you might have noticed that people who are confident and talk well have a certain body posture while they speak. I have noticed that if i pretend to act confident and maintain the body posture that i make when I speak to myself in the mirror, and ensure that I'm speaking slowly, my stutter reduces significantly. But it will not happen overnight. In my case it took 3-4months atleast. Technique to manage stutter- SPEAK SLOWLY. Stretch the syllables you know you're going to stutter at, a bit. Stutter happens due to pause in exhalation i. e. lack of airflow. Make sure you're exhaling while you speak. Don't pause your exhalation while you're speaking. The lower jaw locks when we stutter, doesn't it? Make sure you're moving it while you're speaking. Technique to avoid stutter (works when nothing else does) - you're from India, right? Try switching to an American accent (just slightly) when you talk to yourself in the mirror and when you're talking to your friends. The thing about the American accent is that there's a lot of tongue movements (twisting of the tongue) that happens when you speak, which doesn't happen in most indian accents. Put less emphasis on the syllable that you know you'd stutter at. I have a problem pronouncing words that begin with a vowel. So instead of saying UMBRELLA, i say MMMBRELLA. Motivation- see, your stutter is not as bad as you think it is. Record yourself speaking about a particular topic on camera. You'll see that it's not as bad. THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE CALM WHILE YOU'RE SPEAKING TO YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE ALONE. Try talking to more and more people online. As in delivery guys, relatives etc etc. Getting comfortable with talking to strangers will help tremendously. I know these techniques are A LOT. And it will definitely take 3-6 months minimum to reduce your stutter if you follow these. And also do the pencil articulation exercise daily (google it).
