See, I think of the singing thing differently. I think that, when we sing, we are accessing a very different part of our brains from when we are speaking. Think about it, what are you're intentions when you're singing? What's going through your head? I'm sure it's nowhere near what's going through your head when your conversing with someone. It's almost like singing comes from your right brain, while talking comes from your left brain (inaccurate, but just kind of how I think of it). I'm the same way, I love to sing and I never stutter when I do. Like zero. Or when I rap (yes, I've rapped), and rapping is almost the same thing as talking, breathing-wise, but not mentally. I know exactly what you mean about being out of breath, but I really believe it's just another facet of stammering, which I still think may be largely psychological. That's not to say that for *you*, it might just be a breathing issue. Have you tried learning any breathing techniques? Maybe filling your diaphragm before you speak? For me they never really helped.
