Nah, don't even sweat it man. Don't ever apologize for keeping it real. The King's Speech was fair. Colin Firth's performance was honorable. But was it enough? Of course not. 4 years later and life goes on you know? It was one of those Hollywood feel-good inspirational movies that gets tossed aside after all the sentiment has been sucked out of it. The movie did, however, provide a nice contrast in terms of portraying a person who stutters with some dignity, thanks to screenwriter David Seidler, who won an academy award for it, and also stutters. Which I think is the biggest thing we should take away from this: a movie that won 4 Academy Awards that portrayed someone who stutters in a positive light (and not comedic relief) written by someone who stutters. That's great.
