Anyone else's stutter go away when it's called out?

Anyone else's stutter go away when it's called out? I have been a long time lurker and just had to point this out and see if i'm the only one who does this. My speech is very hit and miss, some bad days, some good days. But if someone brings up stuttering in a conversation, or mentions my speech issues i somehow control it in an almost denial type of thing. Anyone else have this issue?
