Well, it happened to me. I stuttered mildly for about 60 years, from the time I was a small boy until 8 AM on Monday, June 7, 2021. Then I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. It was pretty severe, and I was only semi-conscious for a couple of weeks in neurological intensive care. A couple of weeks after my discharge from the hospital, I was visited by a physical therapist. When she left, my wife commented, "Do you realize you were perfectly fluent for the entire visit?" I hadn't noticed that. But I \*was\* fluent, and I remained so for the next 3 to 3-1/2 years. It was beyond fantastic. I would strike up conversations with strangers at the mall. I didn't fear talking on the telephone. My fluency has since deteriorated, to roughly the pre-stroke level, but I'll always have those lovely memories of 3+ years of fluency.
