Abilify really helped my stutter After trying every sort of speech therapy known to man I finally resorted to drugs. Luckily the shrink at the local free clinic was very understanding of my stuttering problem and the emotional issues it can cause. She was happy to prescribe me some drugs I did some research on. Currently I'm taking Abilify which is meant for a bunch of other problems, but was also shown to have helped in matters of stuttering. I thought it was worth a shot. So far I've been on it a few months and my stuttering seems to be progressively getting better. For instance I used to dread going to the grocery stores that ask if you want a paper or plastic bag. I'd always get caught on trying to say either paper or plastic for a long time. Even though I don't give a flying fuck what kind of bag my groceries are in. Anyway, now I have no problem simply saying, "plastic."
