Speech therapy definitely helps me. Also with stuttering, it’s all in our heads. It’s fear based. That’s proof of why you don’t stutter when you’re alone. My advice is to use visualization. It gives your brain a different thing to focus on rather than “I’m going to stutter,” “oh no I have an S sound word coming up and that’s difficult,” etc. Visualizing has helped me when speaking with my stutter. As I’m talking I’m either thinking about the images of what I’m thinking or I visualize myself typing out the words I’m saying as if I’m typing in a google doc. Switching your attention and focus to something like visualizing tremendously helps to keep a flow to the way you speak without as many blocks. All the best, stay strong! Stuttering is so difficult to navigate.
