Stuttering has almost certainly greatly contributed to my introversion. But I've been a stutterer (in the sense that I recognized my disfluency in relation to other kids) since first grade, so it's impossible to say what my enthusiasm for socialization might be without it. But I agree with you. Down with this shyness/afraid/nervous/meek stereotype of stutterers. Covert stutters, for one, often times manage to project a social-positive personality with varying levels of success. Plus, those of us who have found passable fluency with the acceptance of our stutters experience less anxiety, which means increased fluency, which means a bigger willingness to socialize. But yes, we are still stutterers.
