Have you considered joining a club, that has an established structure and occasions for social gatherings? Think about what you like to do, and there is probably a club for it? I was in the same boat. I didn't have friens in college, and if it wasn't for my roommate introducing me to people, and going in clubs I wasn't going to meet many people. I ended up joining a fraternity as well. They knew I had good grades which would help them, and overlooked my social awkwardness. I kind of sucked for a little bit, but I still have some really true life long friends from that experience. Plus, I got laid, a lot, So there is that. When you have a beer in your hand at a party people can't hear you stutter.
