If I'm not mistaken, the reason people who stutter don't stutter when they sing is that singing uses a different part of the brain than other speech. And I think that a need for validation or a fear of judgement (even subconsciously) is a trigger for stuttering; so if you're talking to yourself or to a pet or to a baby, there is no pressure and thus no stutter.
