I know exactly this feeling. I’ve done it before and I even look at the ground and close up as I say it. But I do it less as I’ve got older. Perhaps it would be better to say “thank you for your patience” with a confident smile than close up, apologise and become more introverted in the moment. Face to face I’m a lot better with this, see if this was a phone interview, I would be so upset with myself and apologise profusely. But life goes on buddy! You’ll ace it next time 😊
