I can honestly say, "I've been in that boat." I am still floating across the Atlantic but I am doing so with a destination in mind. I personally took up working out to increase my confidence. Which made it easier to take steps towards managing my stutter. (ie Ordering for myself, phone conversations, and interviewing for a job, amongst others.) It may work for you and it may not. You ~~may~~ will be made fun of. But, coming from experience, you just have to tell yourself, "Who the f**k cares!" Life is so much more than what people think about you. This mindset takes practice and isn't easy to achieve by any means. Ultimately you can learn how to manage and live with your stutter but not trying is the worse thing you can do. You can do anything that you work at, even as an adult nothing is ever unreachable. Good luck! **Edit**: Punctuation
