I actually spent 5 years in speech therapy, all in elementary/middle school. I credit the fact that I can function as well as I do and as faded/managed as my impediment is to the skills of my therapist and the systems she taught me. She put a heavy emphasis on taking me out of my comfort zone and pushing my stutter to the forefront in a controlled environment. Calling companies on the phone, asking guided questions and then moving on to in person communications with strangers and people of import helped a lot. She also helped me develop my own system of calming down, and stopping myself when I began to stutter/stammer. I wish I could point you to specific websites/programs, but it's been years! I do wish you the best in your career though, we could always use more empathic speech pathologists!
