Did you ever get help by your parents doing speech therapy techniques when you where younger? I was sent to speech therapy many times and at different ages when I was younger. And to be honest I never really gave the techniques I learned in therapy a good try. I was supposed to practise at home, but I don’t remember doing it. One thing I do remember is that I was very shy and ashamed of my stutter. I also remember practising some stuttering techniques while mowing the lawn, because the noise from the lawn mower would cover the sound of me practising. I would stop when my parents came out to check on me. I never really talked about stuttering with anyone either, and very rarely with my parents. Sometimes I think about maybe I should have been pushed more to try these techniques and maybe gotten some help from my parents. Because it’s difficult for a 12-17 year old to relearn himself to speak. Did you ever get help from your parents practising techniques you learned in speech therapy?
