The comments here treat this as a trick, but what you possibly could be using is the costal diaphragm to speak. There's a theory that stuttering is caused by the restriction of airflow. When you feel a block coming your diaphragm goes into what is called freeze struggle and distortion. This is because you're using the lower part of your diaphragm (speaking from your stomach.) Also I must note that this programme doesn't make you fluent, but gives you control of your stutter and brings you to accept it. Instead of stuttering unintentionally you'll find yourself stuttering on purpose as a way of combatting the stutter, especially in your early year or 2 after your first course. I actually attended the McGuire programme, and there we learned to use costal breathing (basically deep breathing through the mouth) to use a different part of the diaphragm and therefore let air flow normally, along with other techniques. Depending on the severity of your stutter the costal breathing alone won't combat your stutter fully, because your brain is still so used to telling itself to hold back and not speak. I recommend looking into the McGuire programme, as I know some people here have attended it and from what I know it has worked for most. If costs trouble you, try get a copy of 'beyond stammering' and give it a read. If you have any questions hit me up!
