Yeah I think its viewed as a cosmetic issue to some extent. Its interesting because there are certain drugs which are approved by the FDA for the treatment of tourettes and autism but this is mostly because these conditions affect other people. What I mean is people don't like dealing with tourettes outbursts or autistic meltdowns so lo and behold there are drugs approved for the treatment of those conditions but there is nothing for stuttering because despite it affecting the lives of people who stutter it doesn't really affect other people.
