I really think that is one of the most difficult things about speech therapy. Finding qualified help. I've said it a million times... Most of us have our first experience with speech therapy through the school system. At least here in the United States. And they're just not qualified. Their intentions are good, but they don't have the resources. So our first impression of speech therapist tend to be that of being ineffective. And when you have no frame of reference, how do you measure a good speech therapist from their peers? The same can be set up psychologists. How do you find a good one? I believe in referrals. And that's one thing that's been conspicuously absent from this subreddit. I've not seen anybody in here recommend a particular doctor. I will guess that most of the people who have had effective speech therapy probably aren't in the subreddit. My SLP was in the last half of his career when I saw him 25 years ago.
