When I took speech therapy the therapist explained that when you're communicating with another person, it's natural for you (or the other person) to subconsciously mimic or match the other person's speech cadence or speed in which they're talking. For the person who stutters this is important to watch for when speaking to a non-stutterer, just take your time and focus on mindful breathing before getting a word out:)
