Just try to think of it as a normal way that people speak, just different, not something that is necessarily awkward or uncomfortable. Imagine that her speech was interrupted because she had to cough, that wouldn’t be uncomfortable right? I think the awkwardness and discomfort comes from this feeling that you have to pretend it’s not happening…. So you don’t have to pretend it’s not happening, both of you can plainly hear that it’s happening…. Just calmly wait for her to finish speaking, as you would for anyone else.
