I think nobody ever recovered from stutter. They just learn to handle it. If it is possible, there would be many people talking about it. (there are several, but mostly because of advertisment and some people are stutter free for a short period, but don't know yet that it will come back) So all you can do is try to find a way that it doesn't bother you very much, and that you can control your speech once you get stuck. Just knowing that you can overcome a block will help you relax, and this will cause your stutter to fade, at least slightly. And the best thing you can do is practice. If you have to answer the phone everyday, its becomes less and less problem for you. I have to answer the telephone at work, and it's no big deal anymore. Calling by myself is actually, but only because I almost never do it. Overthinking situations is the worst by the way. Sometimes my head reminds me that I might stutter and what I'm gonna say instead and stuff like that. This thought keeps bothering me all the way to this event, even when I'm waiting in the line (mcdonalds or whatever) my heart pumps like insane. Only because I reminded myself that I do stutter. If you are confident with your stutter, you actually don't stutter at all. It's just the fear.
