I just had some interviews and the best advice I can say is, LET IT GO. The more you fight it, the worse your stammer will be. I’ll throw this in there too; write out your responses beforehand and practice practice practice. Knowing what you are going to say before you say it helps you in general. What also helped me through the interviewing process is scheduling a bunch of interviews. Mock interviews , jobs I know I can get, jobs that I know “I need to nail” the interview. The more you put yourself in that situation, the more comfortable you’ll be in those situations. Like many people that are apart of this sub reddit, I wish there was a magic pill that would make it go away… But I urge you to embrace it. You’d be surprised; I have had interviews where I stuttered through the whole thing and I thought, “damn I didn’t get a word out. They won’t call back.” Then I picked up my phone the next day to “Sir ____, we’d like to offer you the job.” In general, just remember, you haven’t came this far to only come this far. They are interviewing you because they believe you are a good candidate (a.k.a, you already stand out). TL;DR: Embrace your stammer, rehearse your responses, and have confidence (they have selected you out of a pool to assess).
