> For some people showing stuttering is the worst thing in the world and anything is better, even sounding airheaded. Yeah, exactly. I used to feel the same until I saw it in practice, and then I was like nope, never mind, this avoidance thing is never going to end up with a satisfying result. Objective experiences like that are important, I think. It's hard to distance ourselves, which is one of the reasons support groups and get togethers with fellow stutterers are awesome. I mean, not to size up other disfluencies as appearing better or worse than your own, but just to see how different methods of application are working out for other stutterers. It's easier to face a flaw in yourself when you observe it in someone else.
